2019年2月23日加拿大移民部官网及移民部长正式宣布加拿大保姆移民推出新政，致力于引进有相关工作经验的护理人员，并安排其家属陪同定居加拿大，相关细则将陆续出台。
目前有四个保姆护理的移民项目，包括最新的一个从3月4日到6月4日的过渡期移民通道。2019年11月29日后将合并为照顾小孩和高医疗需求者2个通道，意味着目前已在加拿大开始工作和正在申请中的保姆申请人将只能等到11月29日前新推出的试点计划，该计划仍旧为五年期，移民名额两个项目总共5500人。
新政最大的受益者是去年6月4日之前开始在加拿大工作的护理人员，这批人原本受制于至2019年11月29日完不成2年新政策而不能顺利移民，如今他们只要在今年6月4日之前完成1年的保姆相关工作经验就有资格申请移民，而且学历要求不高，只要求等同于加拿大高中以上。
新的两个保姆移民试点项目将突出解决保姆移民政策的严重缺陷，变通为在保姆开始为期2年的加拿大工作之前就评估其移民的可能，待保姆2年的工作经验完成时即可直接申请移民。同时，计划取消或减轻保姆更换雇主的障碍，近年来移民部只签发两年的工作签证，由于保姆往往在工签签发后1-3个月才在加拿大开始工作，很多保姆签证到期时还不能积满两年的工作经验，只能重新申请LMIA及续工签，给保姆及雇主均造成了很大的困扰及经济负担，新政将设法解决此类问题。
最后，本次新政再次强调了给予配偶开放式工签，移民部旨在让保姆同家人的团聚更为便捷，也凸显了加拿大移民政策的人性化。
